Description

Ramcharitmanas, is an epic poem in Awadhi language, composed by the 16th-century Indian bhakti poet Tulsidas. The word Ramcharitmanas literally means “Lake of the deeds of Rama”. It is considered one of the greatest works of Hindu literature. Ramcharitmanas consists of seven Kand (literally “books” or “episodes”, cognate with cantos). Tulsidas compared the seven Kāndas of the epic to seven steps leading into the holy waters of Lake Manasarovar “which purifies the body and the soul at once”.
